An Amazon initiative is using the market demand to drive positive change for the
Amazon rainforest – with a special focus on Brazil. 

WHO ARE WE

We are a group of timber importing companies specialized in tropical timber in the European market. We started An Amazon Initiative to strengthen the link between the market demand in Europe for sustainable and certified timber and the urgent need to safeguard the Amazon rainforest.  
 

Today An Amazon Initiative is an International precompetitive collaboration involving timber importers, producers and relevant associations working to highlight the need for more state and federal concessions and FSC certification in the Amazon – with a special focus on Brazil.

THE LETTER

An open letter from European timber importers to the Brazilian forest sector discussing sustainable and certified timber trends, signed by various timber companies with their logos.

In July 2021 a letter signed by more than 30 European timber importers was send to Brazilian forest authorities and NGO’s.
